Seaside House
Description
This sculpt came from taking on the task of bringing a 2D concept to life in 3D. The original design is by Grady Frederick. Because this model is a piece of architecture, I started by doing a rough block out in Maya to get pieces in all the key areas and do some simple mock-ups of the stone and wood components. I figured modeling those in Maya would simplify the workflow and allow me to spend the bulk of my time sculpting on details and texture. I created the roof in Houdini using vex and lattice deformers to get the right shape for ZBrush. Once the overall model was matching the concept, I took the whole model into ZBrush and started sculpting. I wanted the model to feel worn down, but sturdy. So, I spent time making sure the rocks each had chips and chunks missing, but the overall structure had lots of large rock details and would textures to keep the feeling of a long-lasting house.
